WWE Philly: WrestleMania 40 Coming to Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia in April 2024 – WPVI-TV

Philadelphia (WPVI) – Are you ready, Philly?

Brotherly Love will become a hub for sports entertainment when WWE brings WrestleMania 40 to Lincoln Financial Field in 2024.

WWE, along with the Philadelphia Eagles, the Philadelphia Convention and Visitors Bureau and Mayor Jim Kenny made the announcement Wednesday morning.

WrestleMania 40 will take place over two nights on Saturday, April 6th and Sunday, April 7.

In addition to the main attraction, WWE will host its Friday Night Smackdown TV broadcast on Friday, April 5, and its Monday Night Raw broadcast on Monday, April 8 from the Wells Fargo Center.

There will also be a Hall of Fame concert at the Wells Fargo Center. The Hall of Fame usually happens the night before WrestleMania.

Fan events will be held at the Pennsylvania Convention Center.

Additionally, WWE says it will hold several community outreach events, including hospital visits and bullying prevention gatherings in the area.

“We are proud to welcome WWE fans from around the world to Philadelphia to be a part of the historic 40th WrestleMania in 2024,” said Mayor Kenny. “The week-long series of events will help shed the global spotlight on our great city while making a huge impact on our local economy.”

In 2018, WWE brought the Royal Rumble event to Philadelphia. at that time, Mayor Kenny told WWE he’d like them to come back to townbut for WrestleMania.

Kenny said at the time, “Hopefully she’ll keep coming back to Philadelphia for many more shows in the coming years. I’d like to host WrestleMania. I would like to host WrestleMania. I would really like to host WrestleMania.” .

Philadelphia last hosted WrestleMania in 1999, when Wells Fargo Center was the first league center. The main event of that night: Stone Cold Steve Austin vs. The Rock.

“Philadelphia is excited to host WrestleMania for the first time in 25 years,” Chief Philadelphia Convention and Visitors Bureau and CEO Greg Karen said. “Combining enthusiastic Philadelphia fans uniting with WWE’s worldwide fan base will create incredible electric power across the city for events at Lincoln Financial Field, Wells Fargo Center and Pennsylvania Convention Center.”

WWE made headlines lately after their announcement Chairman and CEO Vince McMahon has retired amid an investigation into alleged cash payments. His daughter Stephanie McMahon took over as president. She and CEO Nick Khan share the role of CEO.

WWE officials have said that more details about WrestleMania will come in the future.
