Meghan Markle denies lying to Oprah about being an ‘only child’ in an interview with Fox News

The Duchess of Sussex’s legal team said in a lawsuit on Monday in connection with the defamation lawsuit brought by her half-sister Samantha Markle, that Meghan made a “personal” statement about how she felt about her childhood.

“Meghan’s response to this question that she ‘bred up as an only child’ was clearly not intended to be a statement of the objective fact that she has no genetic siblings or half-siblings,” her legal team said in the lawsuit. “Instead, it was a written example of a personal statement about how a person feels about their childhood.”

The lawsuit alleged that Samantha Markle “ignored the context” of Winfrey’s question, which was about Meghan’s “relationship” with her half-sister, who is 17 years her senior and raised in another home.
